DDR Museum Palast der Republik

Keine drei Jahrzehnte Lebenszeit waren ihm vergönnt: Der Palast der Republik erhob sich auf dem Grund des alten Berliner Schlosses und wurde Anfang des 21. Jahrhunderts abgerissen, um dem Humboldt Forum zu weichen. Dennoch ruft „Erichs Lampenladen“ bei DDR-Bürgern auch heute noch Erinnerungen hervor. In der Kollektion „Palast der Republik“ blicken wir zurück in die 70er-Jahre mit ihren poppigen Farben. Die charakteristische Architektur des verschwundenen Palasts kehrt wieder – als Retro in die DDR.
The Palace of the Republic was built on top of the old Berlin Palace and was demolished at the beginning of the 21st century to make way for the Humboldt Forum, not even three decades old. Nevertheless, „Erich’s Lamp Shop“ still evokes memories for GDR citizens today. In the „Palace of the Republic“ collection, we look back to the 70s with its pop colours. The characteristic architecture of the disappeared palace returns – as retro to the GDR.
